Economic systems should serve people, not the other way around.

Our Mission

We are a community of neighbors, organizers, and thinkers working to understand the economic and social systems that shape our lives and to build new ones rooted in care, not control. Together, we ask hard questions about power, wealth, and justice. We believe economics isn’t just theory; it’s our rent, our jobs, our neighborhood, our history, and our future. The economy is not a distant object that only few can model through abstraction, the economy is us: real people, our relationships, and our struggles. The economy is a deeply political subject that has been de-democratized: we need to take back agency. We study how local problems mirror and affect the global systems. We imagine how they could work differently. And we do that work in public, for and with the people they impact most. We believe that broader economic imagination emerges from concrete participation. Empowering knowledge is inseparable from collective organizing.

We are putting the power of FREE in that hands of the community assembly, practicing consensus-based governance.
